Holy Spirit Presence and Power

The Holy Spirit is God's presence living inside believers.

1 Corinthians 3:16

HOLY SPIRIT PRESENCE

How and when do we receive the Holy Spirit?  At the moment a person believes in the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior they receive the Holy Spirit, 1 Corinthians 12:13, Ephesians 1:13.  Anyone who does not have the Holy Spirit living inside them does not belong to Christ, Romans 8:9.

HOLY SPIRIT POWER

THE HOLY SPIRIT MARKS US WITH A SEAL Ephesians 1:13-14

When we believe in the Gospel of Jesus Christ, we are sealed by the Holy Spirit with a guarantee.  This guarantee is an assurance that God will keep all His promises.  This guarantee gives us confidence that our inheritance in Christ Jesus will remain and we will spend eternity with Him.

THE HOLY SPIRIT SANCTIFIES US Galatians 5:16-25

To sanctify means to clean or wash, and designate for a special and specific purpose.  God sanctifies us through the power of the Holy Spirit.  He transforms our hearts, our minds, and our behavior to align with His word.  The work of sanctification is a supernatural  lifelong process that enables us to stop indulging in sin, Galatians 5:16-21 and replace sin with the fruit of the Holy Spirit.  The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control, Galatians 5:22-23.

THE HOLY SPIRIT GIVES US POWER TO WITNESS Acts 1:8

God created all of us to witness or to tell others about Jesus and the good news of the Gospel.    To become effective witnesses and fully accomplish this purpose we need the power of the Holy Spirit.  You may have many goals and ambitions  - many things you want to accomplish in life, but God’s purpose for you and your life, requires God’s power.
